PAY RANGE:
KGS-3: Between 12,978 and 18,427 Won per hour
KGS-4: Between 15,220 and 21,740 Won per hour
TOUR OF DUTY: 40 hours per week
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current USFK KN employees
NOTE: 1. Target grade of this position is KGS-4. If this position is filled at KGS-3, the incumbent will be promoted to target grade non-competitively upon satisfactory completion of the job requirements, recommendation by the supervisor, and subject to meeting time-in-grade and qualification requirements. 2. Relocation Allowance will NOT be authorized for the selectee from outside the commuting area. 3. For Area II applicants: Selectee for this position may be eligible for relocation allowance if applicable and all requirements in paragraph 8-13 (Relocation Allowance) of USFK regulation 690-1 are met. Under the Yongsan Relocation Plan (YRP), individual moves of the selectee from Area II to other Areas will be authorized by the YRP moving services processes as stipulated in Civilian Human Resources Transformation Guidance.
MAJOR DUTIES: Ensures that care is provided in compliance with Child and Youth Services standards as outlined in AR 608-10 and other applicable guidelines. Assists in the staff to plan and conduct an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child based upon stated goals and a curriculum plan provided by the supervisor. Reviews and implements daily schedules and activity plans, and briefs lower graded employees. Arranges the room and play materials to accommodate the daily schedule. Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Assists higher grade Child Youth Service staff to create adult-made games and play materials (i.e., mixing paint, play-dough, and assembling props for dramatic play, activities, etc.), and assists with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment for submission to the supervisor. Conducts daily health checks of children. Notifies the supervisor or Center Director of any marks or other signs that might indicate a suspicion of illness, abuse or neglect. Creates a pleasant, inviting atmosphere for children. Ensures the safety and sanitation of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, etc. Completes and submits required reports in an accurate and timely manner. May participate in conferences with parents and supervisor. Coordinates by age, the appropriate play and learning activities to foster individual and group activity development. Leads children in songs, games, finger plays, and other activities. Interacts with children during programmed activities. Uses approved child guidance and care giving techniques that support overall program objectives. Maintains continuous observation of children to detect early signs of distress or abnormal behavior and maintains up-to date child assessment folder on each child. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
KGS-3: Six months of general experience.
KGS-4: One year of general experience.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Progressively responsible work which indicates ability to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: The approval of management panel to determine English conversational skills is required.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed education above the high school level in a ROKG authorized or recognized college, university, business, technical, or secretarial school may be substituted for the experience required at grades KGS-3 through KGS-4.
