PAY RANGE Between 17,416 and 24,989 Won per hour

 

TOUR OF DUTY:  40 hours per week

 

AREA OF CONSIDERATION All current USFK KN employees (Korea-wide)

 

NOTE:  1. This position has been designated as KN EMERGENCY-ESSENTIAL (MISSION ESSENTIAL).  KN EE (ME) Position Agreement Form (USFK Form 200EK) must be signed prior to appointment of the selectee for this position.  2. Relocation Allowance will NOT be authorized for the selectee from outside the commuting area.  3. For Area II applicants: Selectee for this position may be eligible for relocation allowance if applicable and all requirements in paragraph 8-13 (Relocation Allowance) of USFK regulation 690-1 are met. Under the Yongsan Relocation Plan (YRP), individual moves of the selectee from Area II to other Areas will be authorized by the YRP moving services processes as stipulated in Civilian Human Resources Transformation Guidance.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:  1. Performs planning and layout of machine shop work for the fabrication, repair, rebuild or modification of a wide variety of items constituting parts, components, or assemblies. Interprets blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications or checks samples to determine machine shop work to be done. Determines requirements for the assigned number of pieces, types of machines and equipment, tools and attachments, and special devices. Ascertains types of metal (e.g., tool, carbon and other steels, titanium alloy, armor plate, bronze, aluminum, cast iron, copper, Monel Metal, magnesium, nickel) or other materials such as plastics, ceramics, rubber and fiberglass. Decides speeds and feeds, tolerances and sequences of operations. Lays out by measuring and scribing lines, arcs, circles, angles, tapers, center distances and location points at various angles and in different planes on a work piece involving a multiplicity of interrelated dimensions, unusual contours and shapes and the chucking and aligning of irregularly shaped items. Scribes lines for drilling, tapping, reaming, turning, boring and grinding to tolerances of .0002. 2. Performs setup work. Grinds and sharpens tools including standard and form tools. Selects standard tools, jigs and fixtures. Adjusts and sets machine speeds to type of material and tools involved. Makes trial cuts using precision measuring devices to determine whether the part is being machined to proper size and shape. 3. Operates a variety of shop machines, including the engine lathe, milling machine, radial or sensitive drill press and grinding machine. Operates also other shop machines including for example, bench lathe, bench grinder, shaper, planner, saws, horizontal and vertical boring mill, jig, boring machine. Oils, greases, cleans and makes minor repairs and adjustments to machines. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  Works in a well-lighted, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noise and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, cuts, bruises from use of machine and hand tools. Wears safety glasses, shoes and other equipment as required.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

a. EXPERIENCE:  One year of general experience plus one year of specialized experience

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Actual work experience at a trainee, helper or other work related to the trade or craft for which being considered.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Experience at the "Junior" or higher level in the work related to trade or craft for which being considered.

 

b. ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY:  The approval of management panel to determine English conversational skills is required.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1. Graduation from technical high school in the field related, successful completion of a formal training course (at least 90 days duration) or possession of a valid license or certificate of competency issued by the ROKG may be substituted for required one year of general experience.  2. Graduation from technical junior college in the field or possession of a 1st class ROK license/certificate of competency issued by the ROKG may be substituted for required one year of general and one year of specialized experience.
